Boyfriend inspired outfits!

A fun way to change up your wardrobe is to pick a few things in your boyfriend’s closet. This is what I did in this article. The pieces are obviously too large, but I actually like that style. I styled everything with a very pink lipstick to make it more feminine.

If there is one piece of clothing that looks effortless and chic it’s the kimono. When I don’t know what to wear I always add a kimono to my outfit and it does the job. I share with you 4 types of kimonos and ways to wear them and of course always on a budget.

The key is to accessorize!

If you are craving for new clothes, but you don’t have the money for it here is my suggestion: don’t spend money stupidly and just buy yourself a few accessories.

You can create a whole lot of new outfits just by changing the way you wear your clothes and by adding a different accessory. If you go buy let’s say 3 new outfits you will spend at least 80$, but if you go buy yourself 4 accessories it will cost you 20$ and you will feel like you renewed your wardrobe.

Here are my examples of what you can do!

A scarf transforms the most casual outfits into a fancy one. A brown scarf with white clothes pops out pretty nicely. Big bracelets look expensive, but they aren’t necessarily. You can add them with almost every outfits.

Looking fancy with low-priced jewellery

I have already made an article about accessorizing to bettered an outfit, but this article will be exclusively about jewellery because it’s my favorite accessory (especially necklaces and earings). I shop everywhere for good jewels and during the years I found my best spots.

I already made an article about value’s village so I won’t come back on the subject, but it’s still a very good place to find nice second-hand jewellery.

Purchasing Christmas gifts without loading your credit card

Black friday/cyber monday deals, see below for details.
Black friday/cyber monday deals, see below for details.
The holiday season is probably the most expensive time of the year. There is no reason to get crazy and load your credit card for Christmas, but at the same time it’s always nice to get the people we love a little something.

The way I do it is I choose to whom I will buy gifts and the amount of money I will spend. Personnally, I only buy gifts to my boyfriend, my parents and my sister (I am really broke remember?). For my family members I spend 30$ for each and for my boyfriend around 80$.

Here are some tips to reduce your spendings

  • Use your employee’s discount (or the one of a friend): People who are working in retail normally have an employee’s discount and it can be very profitable. Why not use your’s or the one of a friend if it fits with the gifts you wanted to get.
  • Buy during the black friday week to get the deals and pay less: Black friday, cyber monday… during thanksgiving the sales are at their peak. I like to buy online during this time because I dislike the vibe of madness in the stores.
  • Select to whom you are giving gifts: You don’t need to get every each of your friends a present and you don’t have to participate in every gifts exchanges. You can easily and politely explain to those who could feel harmed.
  • Do gifts exchanges instead of getting something to everyone: With your group of friends, coworkers or family members you can choose to do one gift exchange instead of getting something for everyone. It’s cheaper for everyone and it can be fun as well (you can make a themed exchange).
  • Team up: If you and another person both will give a gift to the same person why not team up together to get something more interesting and cheaper for you both? You can also do the other way around, buying one gift for two people. That way you can buy something more high-standard that you know they will both use.

Value village rocks!

My pieces from value village.

Honestly, value village saved me many times. When you have a shopping rage and you know if you just go to a ordinary mall it will cost you hundreds of dollars for a few pieces just head to value’s village. The beauty with that community store is that you can find it anywhere, it’s huge and it’s super cheap. If you don’t mind going through every item there is to find a few perfect pieces just go! When I shop at value village I normally go out of the store with 4 pieces for 30$. I found there many clothes and accessories that are now my favorites (see the pictures for proof). The best surprise at value village is probably the dresses section. Of course it depends the location and the time of the year when you go shopping, but honestly I saw a bunch of times beautiful dresses from very good brands and in perfect state. Don’t be shy to check out the earings too, like you can see in the picture I found amazing jewelleries. Continue reading
