Clothing exchange

My experience

Last week I went to a clothing exchange event with one of my friend. She heard of this event on a Facebook group filled with people from Montreal interested in tradings. On the group, a girl proposed an evening of clothes swapping at her appartment. We both went. We each brought clothes that we didn’t wear anymore, but that were still nice looking. I brought 19 pieces. At the girl’s place we were about 12 random women from 16 to 40 years old all strangers to eachother. We divided all the clothes in big piles for every sizes (from XS to XL). Six girls at a time we would go through the piles and choose one item, try it on and if we liked it we kept it and let another person sort through the piles and so on.

The only rule was to get as much pieces as you brought. Since I brought 19 pieces I technically could pick 19, but I only found 7 items I liked.

I honestly really enjoyed this event. It cost nothing and I got 7 new things for free. The clothes I brought I wasn’t wearing them anymore anyway. Plus, it’s kinda fun to see other people picking your old stuff and finding it pretty. I met very cool women and the mood was chill and friendly. I highly recommend anyone doing that, I’m pretty sure any big city as the same kind of Facebook groups where people want to exchange things to one another.

My friend that came with me had a nice time, but since she wears a L or XL and the girls who were there were all pretty much a Small she didn’t find as much things a as me. Luckily, there was accessories too so she got a very fancy silk scarf and a bunch of jewellery. The best thing to do before going to the event is checking the people who are attending because they normally write the sizes of what they will bring. That way you know what to expect.

The photos you see all show one item I got at the event. I also got a very cute onepiece swimsuit, one pair of sport’s pants and a pair of pyjama bottoms.

I Will definitely keep on participating to these events and I even plan on throwing my own real soon.

Switch ‘n bitch

What is called switch n’ bitch is a clothing event you do with your friends. It’s pretty much the same concept as the clothing exchange except the way you choose the pieces you like. We show off the items that people brought one at a time. If only one girl wants it she takes it, if more than one person is interested everyone who wants the item try it on and the other girls vote for which person wears it the best. It’s a funny thing to do with a couple of beers if your friends aren’t too sensitive. I don’t think I would do that with strangers since I would be to uncomfortable to choose between two people I don’t know, but with my friends it’s just funny.

I live in Ottawa, I am going to have to look for a switch ‘n bitch in my city. Love your finds and I bet it was great to meet other like-minded gals. Have a great day. Cheers, Michele
